A Wet, Windy and Icy Travel Day

When I headed west down I-40 Wednesday morning, a bit of ice was clinging to road signs, trees and bushes, but not to the roads thankfully. A light to medium rain followed me until just east of Oklahoma City; not a pleasant drive at all. Thankfully, we were greeted with this gorgeous sunrise on Thursday morning:

8B3F9852-E627-46AE-8300-862EA7CD4AAEThe day began cold, in the low 30s, but finished just over 50 degrees…much better! We made it to Clovis, New Mexico, just over the state line. Unfortunately the truck needed a bit of service, so we opted for resting up in a motel while that was being corrected. There’s always something, right?

The highlight of the day was a delicious Fajita Taco for lunch. I’ll make sure to enjoy more authentic Mexican fare over the next few weeks. 🥑🌶🌮🍹

The plan for tomorrow is a visit to Roswell, and checking out Guadalupe Mountains National Park before we begin to make our way to our final destination, Quartzsite, Arizona.

I would drive into a tornado if the reward was an authentic fajita taco!

    1. Well worth that drive! Slices of tender beef, along with a combo of cooked peppers, onions in a deelish sauce, all smothered with cheese on a warm flour tortilla. To die for…..

Yummy! We recently had jumbo shrimp tacos in Englewood Florida. Keep the shiny side up Paul!

      2. Ah Englewood; my Dad spent many a winter there (and I spent many great weeks visiting). Were those jumbo shrimp tacos from the place on/near the beach? I recall many fantastic grouper sandwiches consumed there. Was it The Lock and Key?

Keep updating us on your journey. Wet, wild and cold seems to be a common thread.

    1. Will do. You need me to send you a heavy coat?
Finally 70s in the desert next week. Thank God I brought a mini camp stove and wood pellets to make campfires next week. I’ll probably have to invite the coyotes to join us! 😎😏😲
